Ask Our Experts: What Criteria Should I Use to Choose a Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Resource? They Seem to All Make the Same Claims.

History is the best predictor of future performance.

First, you need to understand that unless you are going to use a “Pay per Click” strategy with Google or another search engine provider, your web site may need to be redesigned or redone to allow for organic search engine optimization (SEO).

Second, you want to find a medical marketing company which designs web sites and does search engine optimization and SEM, not a web design company. That way you know they will understand the types of terms or key words that your patients/customers are searching.

And last, ask them to show you an example of a similar type practice or another medical practice, perhaps in a different market, where they have been able to optimize their web site to appear on the first page through the key words your patients/customers will be searching.

Marketing expert Jonathan Vidal, Senior Director, Consulting Services, for Practice Builders, answered this question. Mr. Vidal is a former senior director of marketing for Endocare, Inc., a medical device company, and a former director of marketing for Circon-ACMI, the largest producer of medical endoscopes.
